Task Forces and Key Policy Areas

A Task Force within the Think7 (T7) framework is a specialized working group composed of experts, academics and researchers from leading think tanks and research institutions worldwide. The goal of the Task Force is to focus on specific policy areas or global challenges that align with the priorities of the Group of Seven (G7) nations during their annual summit.

Functions and Roles:

  • Identifying challenges and opportunities: Assess global challenges and identify opportunities where G7 leadership can make a significant impact.
  • Developing policy recommendations: Formulate actionable policy proposals that address the identified challenges, aiming to contribute to global governance and cooperation.
  • Facilitating dialogue: Serve as platforms for dialogue among international experts, fostering cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange.
  • Contributing to the T7 Communiqué: The findings and recommendations from each Task Force are consolidated into the T7 Final Communiqué, which is presented to the G7 Presidency ahead of the G7 Summit.

It seeks to develop strategies to harness the benefits of digitalization while mitigating risks such as digital inequities, data privacy concerns and disruptions to traditional economic models.

Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development

Focusing on environmental and energy sustainability, this track addresses the urgent need for action on climate change and the promotion of sustainable development practices. It aims to foster international cooperation to meet climate targets, transition to green economies, protect global commons and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Global Peace and Security

This track delves into the challenges of creating an environment for global peace and security in an increasingly complex world. It will explore traditional and non-traditional security threats, including cyberwarfare and autonomous weapons, aiming to develop collaborative approaches to conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
